Commentary To Books Macarthur

This is my ultimate favorite among Bob Ong’s books. Why you may ask? Because it’s deeply sad and yet heartwarming.

At first, I was questioning, “Why is the title ‘MacArthur’?” What does he have to do with the book? But I knew I had to be patient when it comes to Ong’s book, because surely, there’ll be a surprise in the end.

And I was right to have thought so. MacArthur rubs in the issue of poverty, graft and corruption, theft and drug addiction. This is the first of Bob Ong’s books that, despite the funny capers, I grew sad over reading it. I couldn’t help but empathize with how the lives of the characters turned out. And in the end, I knew why the title was as it is. The last part of the book may’ve not sufficed to eliminate the tears in my eyes while reading this and the fact that I wished to change what happened, but it was uplifting to know that even with all the life-shattering experiences, there’s always hope for us and it’s never too late to change for the better.

be careful!sagana sa muraxD

This will be my new favorite book of the year because of the story! Each of the characters has their own problem but despite their own problems they were able to help each other! Thats what friends are. I also like the ending because it teaches us that even the hardest and saddest part of our lives, family is always there to welcome you with warm hugsss.

In my opinion, the best Bob Ong book I've read. This is a story about ghastly events that happen to real people in our country. It is short and easy to read but it could haunt you after you're done with it. And it's not even a ghost story.

It was an accurate depiction of the Philippines today, poor, helpless and desperate. It was a depressing book. I gave it 3 stars because the writing could have been better.

" I shall return." The book is metaphorically based on what General Douglas MacArthur said in 1942 as he left the Philippine Islands during World War II in the attempt of organizing the American offensive against Japan to help the Philippines in its cause. What's the connection of that line to the book? It's for the readers to know why the book was entitled MacArthur.Published in 2007, MacArthur is Bob Ong's sixth book and was often told as the only book that Bob Ong thatis dramatic in nature.

Great book

Ever since I read this as well as Bob Ong's book 'Kapitan Sino', I have been terrified every time someone in the story gives an important lesson, because they die in the story.Even if I only read the pdf files for now, I'll make sure at the time I can buy a physical copy of his books, I will sure complete all of those. Especially the books, Si and 56, that I haven't read yet.
