Chronicle As Books The Sound of Music
I got into the theatre too old to be a Von Trapp boy, too "character actor" to play Rolf, and too young to play the Captain or slimy Uncle Max. With these in mind, "The Sound of Music" will never be a good show for me as performer. I'm not even all that found of the material- but it endures as an American classic for a reason. The writing team was never better than they are on these songs, which have wormed into the world's cultural consciousness as though they genuinely have been around forever, not just since the 1950s.Rating Epithetical Books The Sound of Music

Music starts up in background]LIESL: I am sixteen, going on seventeen/I know--ROLF: Can't we take a break for a moment? A wonderful story come to life on pages. It was an enjoyable experience to read one of the classic stories and have the images pop out of the book. This is definitely a book children will enjoy with the interesting classic story combined with fun and artistic pop-outs that will catch any child's attention. Even some of the older age groups.
I was really glad when I found the original Mary Martin script at my school library!
So much nostalgia going for this one, but regardless I just love this music. For more on our favorite musicals tune in to this special episode of the All the Books Show: https://soundcloud.com/allthebooks/ep...
Designed and built one dress for this play. Learned a lot through that. Also was Sister Bernice. Gotta' love those nuns, and a dancer in the ballroom scene....oh, and the runner up in the contest who can't stop bowing. Great songs that you'll sing your whole life.
