Commentary Of Books La vigie (Highland Guard #3)
4.5 starsIt's no secret that I love Monica McCarty's Highlanders, but it's a well deserved love. In fact I'd say Monica's Highlanders started me on the road to becoming the Highland Hussy. I will make this as spoiler-free as I can.For those of you who haven't read The Chief or The Hawk, this is a new take on our Highlanders, and a new take on Highland Warfare. Imagine "special ops in kilts." Now that we all have that lovely image in our minds, (I know I'm imagining a Navy SEAL in a kilt, and

I'm enjoying but I'm not at the point where I'm loving this series so ,much that I basically devour all the book and can't get enough. But don't get me wrong, I'm still enjoying it and I did enjoy this book more.Maybe it's because I'm starting to get the hang of it but there are times when I still get confused with all the characters mentioned and how they tie into the storyline because every one is somehow connected to someone else! One person seems to be someone's brother, someone's daughter,

I'm having a hard time writing this review because I really did enjoy this story. It was well written, had great characters, good action, Lots of sexual tension. Monica sure knows how to write one heck of a kissing scene too. What I felt I missed in this book that Monica had written in the others was the heat factor. Those of you who know me know that I love my heat in a romance. The Ranger did have some heat but it was mainly sexual tension. It seemed to me that the H&H thought too much

4.5 starsThis 'special ops Highlander' series is getting better and better as it progresses. By taking actual events from Scottish history and integrating them into her characters, she ups the stakes and manages to make this series even more addicting. The Ranger is Arthur Campbell's story. He has been the dark horse in the series so far, so I was glad to learn some more about him.Arthur "Ranger" Campbell has spent his years since his pretend-ouster from the rest of the Guard as a spy amidst the

5 +++ stars!! Doesn't get better than this! The series gets better with every book. Easily one of my favorite historical scottish/highlander novels.

This was a reread.I had this at a 5 star first time reading but I've downgraded it to a 3.5I just had issues with their romance. The pushing away and how it progressed. Some of it was understandable but after a bit it became overkill. Not my favorite of the Highland Guards.

This is a quiet little history-driven romance that is a departure from the more common character driven historical romances where a Scottish setting is more like window dressing for a front-and-center relationship. Here, the real story is the Highland Guard--think Navy SEALS meets kilts and swords, and Ranger's double life. Arthur "Ranger" Campbell spends most of the book fighting very hard against any attraction to Anna, and it's not until the 2/3 mark that the relationship starts to really
