Representaion As Books The Sign of the Twisted Candles (Nancy Drew Mystery Stories #9)
With the tower room, the twisted candles, and the mysterious old man forming the basis for the setting, there’s just enough of a creepy factor to make this an enticing read. Throw in some secret and stealthy searches, the usual bad guys, and a few overzealous relatives and you’ve got the makings of a good mystery. I liked this one better than #8 but not as well as some of the others. I can see kids being enchanted by the story but as an adult I found it just average.

This is my favorite Nancy Drew books, and one of my favorite books that I have ever read. I can't recommend this one enough. When Nancy's friends ask her to investigate the treatment of an elderly relative of theirs things get a bit...twisted. Nancy heads out to an old inn called "The Sign of the Twisted Candles" (which as a name for an inn doesn't really make sense but oh well). There she finds an elderly man confined to a tower room being looked after by a couple and their foster daughter. As time passes it becomes apparent that the couple are mistreating both the elderly man and the child. Nancy takes matters into
One of the challenges of my book group wwas to read a childhood favorite. I grew up with Nancy Drew, Cherry Ames and the Hardy boys. In this book, Nancy tries to help an old man who is imprisoned in the tower of a home he owns. The caretakers are keeping people from seeing him, and stealing his fortune. Nancy discovers their scheme, finds hidden hoards of stocks and jewelry (marked by the sign of the twisted candle) and discovers that the old man's great grandaughter has been working for the

Nancy Drew helps her friends Bess and George with a case involving one of their relatives. Fun and intriguing.
Full of adventure and mystery on every page. I will say that Nancy is often saving the future of some poor orpaned girl who one day will inherit a fortune, perhaps a bit far fetched, but fun for young girls. A dear friend of mine recently told me that her seven year old granddaughter is working her way through Nancy's mysteries, and loving them. I think it's wonderful that yet another group of young girls are enjoying these mysteries as much as we once did. I will also note that I don't seem to
