Description Conducive To Books Deep as the Marrow

Crackpots and left-wingers have talked about it for years, but no one with any real authority has ever considered it. It would be political suicide. But President Thomas Winston has taken the boldest and most bizarre step in the War on Drugs that the United States has ever seen. Vowing to make narcotics legal and to tax and regulate them to the brink of extinction, he intends to take the billions of dollars generated from their sale out of the hands of the drug cartels and move the money into the government's coffers. The conservatives and the Bible Belt are outraged. They swear they'll fight to the death to defeat the President's proposal and see him impeached. The drug lords laugh - they're sure decriminalization will never happen. But then important and respected figures begin to speak out in the media, guardedly supporting President Winston's ideas. Security at the White House is the tightest in its history as death threats pour in daily in ever-increasing numbers. Winston is not concerned. His men are handpicked, the best in the world. Nothing can get to him before he attends the International Drug Summit at The Hague. But they can get to Dr. John VanDuyne, Winston's personal physician and oldest friend, and the one man who can have an audience with the Chief Executive at any time. Someone has kidnapped the doctor's little girl and all he has to do to get her back is poison his best friend - the President of the United States.

Evaluation Epithetical Books Deep as the Marrow
In "Deep As The Marrow", the US President decides to push for the legalization of marijuana and other drugs. Naturally, high-ranking members of certain drug cartels become worried that their lucrative business will dry up. Therefore, they arrange for the six year old daughter (Katie) of the President's personal physician and best friend (John) to be kidnapped and to present John with an awful choice: medically (and secretly) kill the president or have his daughter returned in pieces! This book

Interesting take on power in Washington DC.

Non-stop actionMy second time to read this book and it was just as good the second time as the first. Just a good clean thriller to keep you reading. Try it.

Deep as the Marrow by F. Paul WilsonThis is a stand alone book and not related to the Repairman Jack series. John is a physician whose best friend ends up being President. Their relationship is the source of the issues in this novel. John and Tom (the President) have a friendship that dates from elementary school. Still fast friends, decades later, John finds himself as the President's personal physician. The turning point in this idyllic bromance is defined by Tom's decision to decriminalize

This is "Message fiction" with a libertarian drug legalization theme. If it wasn't the fact that the story was very good and a nice thriller the driving down the message would have put me totally off it.

Interesting idea for a plot, that the president would be pushing to decriminalize all drugs. But that was just the background for the story of Katie, the daughter of the president's personal physician, who was kidnapped by a drug syndicate to get her father to poison the president. Originally I was concerned that it would be a tiring, gruesome kidnapping story (the kidnappers were going to send him her toe as a persuader to cooperate), but the author is very imaginative and the story was full of
