This was a quick, fun read--think anime/manga style but written as a traditional novel.The Meloncholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is about a 14 year old Japanese schoolgirl.(Well, there's a surprise. When was the last time you came across a light novel that didn't have a teenage girl as the protagonist? I had an awesome experience discovering Haruhi Suzumiya's world.What I knew about this collection before started reading was almost nothing, apart from the visual appearance of the main characters due to the anime. This was a bit misleading, given the fact that at first glance it looks like a school manga with all the well-known clichés.
