Let Me Hold You Longer is the thoughts of a Mom as she watches her little boy grow and thinks ahead to the future. It's sweet and a little bit sappy, too. The illustrations are simply adorable and may even bring a tear to you eye as you read.While it is a lovely book, I think the Mother may enjoy it more than the child. This book is overall a good book that has to do with growing up. The book message is a good one for kids who do not always necessarily realize how fast life actually goes by. The book teaches or highlights how as you grow there are things that you will do for the last time. For example, the last time sleeping in a crib, the last time you hit a ball off of a tee, or the last time you go to high school. This book is great for the classroom, and it makes you really thankful for your mom. It is about this mom who starts out by holding her baby and thinking about the future things that she will get to see her child do and not know if it is her last. She talks about rocking him to sleep, telling him to clean his room, watching him play baseball and going off to college. She says in the end "Let me hold on longer, God, to every precious last. Time is precious and so are memories.

Let Me Hold You Longer by Karen Kingsbury was a very sweet kids book that I would recommend to all mom's and dad's for their children as it is a sweet story with cute pictures that is a must read.

I chose this book to put on my top ten book shelf because I feel that this book is perfect for all ages. Whether its for a child who is growing up, going through the motions of change, or an adult who is watching their child grow up everyday, missing the things that one day will be gone. Struck me as more of a book for moms to cry through than a book that kids would relate to. It is not breast-feeding friendly ("the last time I held a bottle to your baby lips") and assumes that all young adults will take the same path ("college life will becken"). Also, I personally found that the word "lasts" was awkward to say. All in all a sweet book, but could've been better.
